For e-bike Service life After fitting the new brake pads, it is very important that the pads are bedded in, as this extends their service life. Bedding in How to improve the service life of your disc brake pads: Bedding in new disc brake pads extends their service life considerably! Keep the brake lever lightly squeezed while you ride and make sure the brake pads touch the brake disc. Ride about 100 metres at a speed of 25 kilometres per hour and brake a little harder at the end to bring the speed down to about 5 kilometres per hour. Then slowly increase the speed again while braking lightly. Repeat this 10 to 12 times to make sure your new brake pads are properly bedded in.
