The Malossi Multivar is a complete variator kit specifically for the Kymco AK 550i. This kit replaces the standard variator system and is designed to optimize power transmission via the CVT transmission. Malossi is an Italian brand that has been manufacturing precision components for scooters and mopeds for decades — the Multivar line is their engineered answer to wear and power loss caused by an aging variator.
The Multivar system is built around a precisely balanced variator body with associated rollers. Thanks to the optimized geometry, the variator adapts more smoothly to the engine speed, resulting in flatter power delivery and better acceleration. Malossi part number 5118058 confirms the direct fitment on the AK 550i.
Installation requires basic knowledge of CVT systems. Preferably use a flywheel puller and flywheel holder to remove the variator body without damage. After installation, check the V-belt for wear — a new variator kit performs best in combination with an intact belt.
