This exhaust nut — also known as a union nut or exhaust flange nut — is the fixing nut used to clamp the exhaust onto the cylinder head manifold of the Yamaha FS1. Produced in the EU, which is a step above average import quality.
The exhaust nut is the part that must be replaced first if the original nut rusts or breaks off. Without a properly tightened exhaust nut, exhaust leakage, extra noise, and power loss will occur. Replacement is usually simple with a ring wrench and is faster if the stud thread in the cylinder head is cleaned first.
