This original 1,40 mm Yamaha valve shim is intended for precisely adjusting the valve clearances in the 4-stroke engine of the Yamaha Neos. Valve shims (also known as valve adjustment discs or shims) determine the clearance between the camshaft and the tappet. The correct thickness is essential: too little clearance leads to burnt valve material, while too much clearance results in ticking noise and power loss.
This plate has a thickness of 1,40 mm and bears Yamaha OEM number 5STE216880. Use a valve adjustment chart or micrometer to determine the required thickness before replacement. Always switch settings (intake and exhaust) if the measurement indicates this.
