A brake caliper is the part that holds the brake pads and presses them against the brake disc when you brake. It is an essential component of the disc brake system on your scooter or moped: without a properly functioning brake caliper, there is insufficient braking power and consequently insufficient riding safety. Brake calipers can wear out, leak, or seize, requiring replacement or overhaul.
