The throttle slide is the moving element in the carburetor that regulates the amount of air and fuel going to the engine. When you accelerate, the slide is pulled up, releasing the mixture and allowing the engine to deliver more power. A worn or damaged throttle slide causes stuttering, poor idling, or a sluggish throttle response.
